Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko urged Ukrainians not to believe information about Putin's alleged decision to send Chechens to the war in Ukraine.
On his Facebook page, he stated that he had spoken with one of the Chechen oppositionists, who is familiar with the situation in Grozny, but is forced to live in exile.
– He said, Anton, this is all nonsense and fake. Firstly, all this was done as part of the information war with Ukraine, and secondly, Putin himself does not involve the Kadyrovites anywhere except in Chechnya. He wants to show himself as a peacemaker in Ukraine, sort of. Liberator from Nazism. And the Kadyrovites don’t fit in this way,” the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs wrote.
Summing up, Anton Gerashchenko recalled that the Chechen military had already been in Ukraine during the events of 2014 in Donetsk, and showed photos before and after the clash with Ukrainian troops.
