The social network has banned such manipulations since 2020.
The social network Facebook removed the deepfake with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, the head of Meta said on Security Policy Nathaniel Gleicher.
“Earlier today, our teams discovered and removed a deepfake video that claimed President Zelensky was making a statement he never made,” Gleicher wrote.
He also added that the video appeared on a broken website and then circulated online.
This video, in which the President of Ukraine calls for laying down arms, appeared on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel, broken by hackers. The video itself bears obvious signs of falsification – for example, the chairman of Volodymyr Zelensky looks alien against the backdrop of the neck and torso.
Immediately after the evil TV channel, the president himself published the video on his official Instagram account. He assured the Ukrainians that the war was not over and the country would continue to fight against the Russian invaders.
The fact that Russia will try to manipulate the minds of Ukrainians and even force them to surrender has long been known. This is evidenced by numerous and sometimes successful attacks on the websites of Ukrainian state bodies and the media, as well as the destruction of TV towers throughout the country.
The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security announced the possibility of creating a deepfake with the president on March 2.< /p>
“Imagine What you see on TV is Volodymyr Zelensky making a surrender statement.You see him, you hear him, so it's true.But it's not.This is a development of a deepfake.It will not be a real video, but created through machine learning algorithms.Videos made by because of such technologies, it is almost impossible to distinguish from real ones.Know – this is a fake!Its goal is to disorient, sow panic, dissuade citizens and persuade our troops to surrender.Be sure – Ukraine will not capitulate!Russia can only come up with a fake victory, close have the Internet and all contacts with the other world,” the message said on the agency's official page.
Add, that the Canadian authorities banned the broadcasting of the Russian TV channels RT and RT France in the country, in particular, due to the concern of the citizens of the country regarding the work of these media.
