Facebook in Russia faces a billion dollar fine
Roskomnadzor plans to hand Facebook a protocol for repeated failure to delete prohibited information, Vedomosti reports.
Further, the protocol will be sent to the court, which will determine the amount of the fine for the American company. It can make up a tenth of the corporation's total revenue – about 12 billion rubles.
Roskomnadzor explained that the administration of Facebook and Instagram has not removed more than 2,000 illegal materials, including those containing child pornography and extremist content.
Earlier it was reported that Facebook received a deferral to pay fines in the Russian Federation. The company must pay fines in the amount of 26 million rubles by October 4.
