The Styrian extreme cyclist Christoph Strasser was the first person to cover more than 1,000 kilometers in 24 hours at the air base in Zeltweg. The average speed was 42.75 km / h, he reached 1,026.215 kilometers. According to a press release, the six-time winner of the “Race across America” broke twelve world records on short distances. The road record over 24 hours was so far 914 km.
The 38-year-old had broken the 914 km mark held by the Slovenian Stanislav Verstovsek after just 21 hours and six minutes. “I'm so happy and grateful that I made it despite the weather. The atmosphere was so great and the spectators really motivated me,” said Strasser. He has been doing this sport for twenty years, and the nutritional concept was the key to success. “I've always dreamed of this magical limit and today a dream came true.”
