A team of decoders from the USA, Australia and Belgium was able to unravel one of the cryptogram texts of the famous serial maniac Zodiac. This was reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, to which the maniac sent his message in November 1969.
For 51 years, the authorities tried to unravel the meaning of the ciphertext, hoping that it indicated the name of a serial killer. One of the decoders, David Oranchak, spoke about what the maniac encrypted in his letter.
– I hope you have fun trying to catch me … I am not afraid of the gas chamber, because it will send me to heaven sooner or later, because now I have enough slaves to work for me … – wrote Zodiac.
The FBI branch in San Francisco announced on Twitter that the maniac case remains an ongoing investigation by the security and local law enforcement agencies.
Recall that a serial killer named Zodiac committed his crimes from December 1968 to October 1969 in Northern California and San Francisco. The police are reliably aware of seven victims: four men and three women from 19 to 39 years old. Two of them were able to survive.
The maniac himself called himself the Zodiac in letters that he sent to the offices of local newspapers. In each of them, the Zodiac indicated information about himself. According to him, the victims were not seven, but 37. The last cryptogram was the third decrypted out of four existing ones. The case has remained open since 1969.
