MOSCOW, June 23. / TASS /. Almost a quarter of Russians surveyed are afraid of losing their jobs, because they think that their profession will soon be replaced by robots. At the same time, among women, the number of those who are afraid of losing their jobs is much higher – 64% versus 36% among men, according to the results of a poll by the Zarplata.ru service, which are at the disposal of TASS.
“22% of the respondents fear that they may soon be unemployed, because the processes in the workplace will be automated. At the same time, women are more afraid of being out of work than men – 64% of respondents expressed fears against 36% of male respondents,” survey results.
Experts believe that in the near future, professions where it is necessary to constantly perform routine actions may disappear, for example, self-service zones without cashiers are already appearing in supermarkets, and the number of human operators in call centers is decreasing everywhere.
“According to the respondents, in the future, the number of familiar professions will decrease by 20%, but in the next decade, there will be many new professions related to digital technologies, biology, genetics, artificial intelligence, science, innovations in medicine and agriculture,” research center.
According to the survey, sellers (10%), cashiers and warehouse workers (9% each), couriers and drivers (7% each), administrators and waiters (6% and 5%, respectively), cleaners (3 %).
Disappearance of professions
As the press service of Superjob explained to TASS, professions do not disappear from the labor market instantly or in a short period. “Of course, there are professions that are most at risk and may disappear in the future. If every day certain specialists have to do the same thing, repeating the same work steps, and the result is known in advance, predictable and well described, then they are threatened by replacement with an algorithm, mechanism or a complex system with an algorithm, “- said in the service.
The press service of the service noted that today employers need motivated, trained and quickly adapting to the new realities of the market specialists. “Therefore, it is important to start working from a student’s bench and constantly improve your qualifications – this is the only way to stay competitive in the labor market during the period of massive digitalization of industries,” the service explained.
The research center of the Zarplata.ru service added that doctors, teachers, cooks and IT specialists are most confident in the demand for their profession, regardless of the development of new technologies.
“Not all Russians believe that the active development of technology is a blessing for humans. Thus, 17% of respondents express concern about widespread digitalization – in addition to the disappearance of a number of professions and widespread automation, 2% of fellow citizens are afraid of the uprising of machines and the enslavement of people by robots,” specialists.
The survey was conducted on June 12-16, 2021 in all regions of the country among 1,992 respondents.
