MOSCOW, October 7. / TASS /. Children have become much more likely to become infected with the delta strain of coronavirus infection, the chief physician of the city clinical hospital (GKB) No. 52 Maryana Lysenko said on Thursday on the Soloviev Live YouTube channel.
“Now children are very actively ill, this is very alarming. The delta strain turned out to be very active in relation to children,” she said.
According to Lysenko, in the first wave of coronavirus, children were carriers of the infection, and the virus did not have a serious effect on them. “Now children are sick and sick quite seriously, and have a large number of various consequences of the infection,” she said.
The head physician also added that the whole world is working on the treatment of coronavirus infection using etiotropic drugs, and a new subclass of drugs, antiviral monoclonal antibodies, has appeared, which has begun to be used in the Russian Federation.
“Now we have a big project in Moscow in relation to pregnant women, since the drugs have shown absolute safety and efficacy when prescribed in the early window (of the disease).
