Expert explains why it is wrong to consider Georgia a pro-Russian country

The paradox of Georgia is that the country has pro-Russian politicians and a pro-European society.

Some Ukrainian analysts groundlessly claim that Georgia has turned into a pro-Russian country that is completely inconsistent with reality.

This was stated by the Master of Foreign Policy, doctoral student of the Institute of Political and Ethnonational Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, candidate of philosophical sciences Andriy Buzarov, reports Ukrinform.

Speaking at the round table “Parliamentary Elections in Georgia 2024”, organized by the Georgian-Ukrainian Cultural and Artistic Center, he noted that the information space needs to set clear accents.

“There is a ruling political elite that takes openly pro-Russian positions, and there is a society that defends a completely opposite position. “This needs to be taken into account,” Buzarov said.

According to him, the paradox of Georgia is that in the country “the politicians are pro-Russian, and the society is pro-Ukrainian and pro-European.”

“They coexist for now, but sooner or later this will change,” the expert predicted.

Recall that it was previously reported that two exit polls radically contradict each other in the parliamentary elections in Georgia.

In addition, we previously reported that during the elections in Georgia, a mass brawl took place near the office of the opposition parties.
