MOSCOW, October 6. / TASS /. Doctors note the possibility of panic attacks and cognitive disorders in patients who have recovered from coronavirus infection. This was announced on Wednesday by the acting. Director General of the National Medical Research Center of Psychiatry and Narcology named after the Serbian Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Zurab Kekelidze in an interview with the Pozdnyakov program on the NTV channel.
“As for panic attacks – yes, they can be, but this condition is being treated. And, unfortunately, it turns out that this mental disorder is being treated, but [people] are afraid to go to a psychiatrist, they believe that because of this they will be put on accounting “, – he said, answering the question of the presenter regarding the possible manifestations of mental disorders in patients who have undergone covid.
The expert clarified that cognitive disorders are manifested, for example, in the weakening of memory or loss of strength. “These moments are something new that we didn’t notice before,” he explained and added that all these conditions are treatable.
According to Kekelidze, coronavirus is an emergency, and emergencies have their manifestation. “Anxiety is increasing. There are certain scales that determine stress scores, and according to them, it turns out that 16 out of 44 points take place with covid,” the expert noted.
