Excitement about referee salaries: ÖFB justified delay

After a report about a slow payout of salaries, the ÖFB ruled. It shouldn't happen again.

The Austrian Football Association reacted to a report about the slow payout of salaries for the Bundesliga referees. “The delay can be traced back to changes in digitization and illness. We have meanwhile taken precautions that this does not happen again,” said ÖFB General Secretary Thomas Hollerer on Monday at the APA request.

The Kronen Zeitung reported on Sunday, based on the statement of an anonymous person concerned, that the referees were waiting more than six weeks for a fee for the second time this year. Normally, these would be transferred every two weeks, it said in the article. According to the ÖFB, the delay was four weeks.
