Max Verstappen rushes from victory to victory in Formula 1, Red Bull Racing has left Mercedes behind. The Dutchman dreams of his first world title.
At the age of 23, Verstappen can no longer be the youngest champion of all time, but the party after the Red Bull driver's title would be huge.
Little Max was already walking through the F1 paddock at the age of three, his dad Jos Verstappen was a pilot in the premier class in 107 races between 1994 and 2003. “The paddock has always been a big playground for me,” reports Verstappen Junior at Bild.
At the age of 16, Verstappen won seven titles in kart races around the world and even won the World Championship. Although Papa Jos and Mama Sophie didn't like it, Max dropped out of school and signed a professional contract with Red Bull on his 17th birthday.
In 2019 and 2020, the flying Dutchman had to be satisfied with two third places in the Formula 1 World Cup – in 2021 it should finally work out with the big coup. In the current season, the Red Bull star has already pulled out 32 points over record world champion Lewis Hamilton.
At Mercedes, they are still fierce before their home race at Silverstone. Team boss Toto Wolff says: “We'll blow them all away, get us the one-two!”
