The first group of Ukrainian citizens was evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky reported that 43 Ukrainians were evacuated from the Gaza Strip . Speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko told the details of the evacuation of citizens from the Palestinian enclave.
He wrote about this on Facebook.
So, according to him, Ukrainians are now safe in Egypt in the care of Ukrainian diplomats.
“As a result of painstaking diplomatic work, our consuls met the Ukrainians at the Rafah checkpoint, provided their transportation to their place of temporary stay, and are preparing a further flight to one of the countries neighboring Ukraine,” he said.
Nikolenko also added that the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from the Gaza Strip continues. Currently, the Ukrainian embassies in Israel and Egypt and other Ukrainian departments are actively involved. The issue of evacuation of Ukrainians is under the personal control of Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
“We are working on the removal of Ukrainians on November 8 and 9. Permission for the departure of a new number of citizens has been received. Given the limited capacity of the Rafah checkpoint, the evacuation occurs exclusively within the limits of the lists of foreigners agreed upon by the local departments involved,” the representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry concluded.
Let us remind you that the Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel Yevgeny Korniychuk said that 367 Ukrainians are expected to be evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
