The first doses of the volume ordered are expected to arrive by the end of June.
The European Union intends to purchase 110,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine. The purchase agreement is due to be signed on Tuesday.
This was announced by European Commissioner for Health Stella Kyriakides, writes dpa.< /p>
Kyriakides noted that 900 cases of monkeypox are currently known in the EU, and only about 1400 in the world.
It is noted that the disease has been spreading in Africa for many years, however, it has caused international controversy due to a recent outbreak in many countries where it has never been observed. Men who have sex with men are considered a high-risk group in the context of the latest outbreak.
In Germany, vaccinations are being considered for everyone at high risk of exposure to the disease, including technical workers in specialized laboratories.
Recall that recently in Romania and Poland the first cases of monkeypox were recorded.
