Europe will exist in a new form and a new reality, which requires the construction of a new international order.
European countries need to rethink relations with Russia after it attacked Ukraine, says French President Emmanuel Macron.
He said this on Sunday in Paris during a meeting for peace organized by the Catholic Community of Sant'Egidio.
“We will have to think about a new form of organizing Europe and rethink our relations with Russia after the war in Ukraine,” Macron said.
Macron noted that Europe will exist in a new form and a new reality, which requires the construction of a new international order.
“This is undoubtedly the greatest challenge of the present, because our current order is incomplete and unfair. “It is incomplete because it was conceived at the end of the Second World War, and therefore did not have at its core the problems that subsequently emerged and became dominant,” the president said.
He said it was necessary to take into account that “most countries on this planet and many of the most populous countries did not exist when the seats were allocated.” That is why the international order in which the world lives today is “blocked.”
Macron said he would return to the issue at the UN on Tuesday, when he addresses the UN General Assembly.
“We need an order where some countries cannot block others, and where countries are represented with dignity, and therefore this must be done in much fairer bodies, like the UN, the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund,” he added. he.
