The European Parliament called on to assess the harm from anti-Russian sanctions for the EU countries. Writes about this RT with reference to the request of the parliamentarian from Belgium Philippe De Man.
He asked how the scale of damage incurred as a result of such measures is assessed in Europe. “Since 2014, the EU Council has imposed a number of restrictive measures and economic sanctions against Russia. The latter were recently extended until the end of 2021, ”De Man recalled.
Earlier, Christoph Leitl, president of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry, admitted that Europe made mistakes in relations with Russia. He noted that now relations between Brussels and Moscow have reached their lowest point, but there is a chance for their reset.
Western countries introduced economic sanctions against Russia in 2014 due to the annexation of Crimea and the situation in Donbass. In response, Russia announced a food embargo that restricts the import of fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat products into the country.
