Ugur Shahin
Restrictive measures introduced in Europe and the United States due to the spread of coronavirus can be removed by the end of the summer. Such a period in an interview with Welt am Sonntag was predicted by Ugur Shahin, CEO of bioengineering company BioNTech, which created a vaccine against COVID-19 in cooperation with the American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.
“There will be flashes, but it will be background noise. There will be mutations, but they will not scare us, ”he predicted. Shahin stressed that the coronavirus will not disappear, and it will take at least another year to regain control over the situation.
On March 17, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the deterioration of the situation with coronavirus in Europe. This is due to a decrease in the rate of vaccination.
Four vaccines against coronavirus have been approved in Europe: a drug developed by Janssen-Cilag, a division of the American corporation Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines. In the United States, they began to inoculate the population with Pfizer and Moderna drugs.
