The European Union sees no reason to impose sanctions against Russian businessmen. This was stated by a high-ranking EU representative, quoted by TASS.
“The political goal of sanctions is to change behavior. One day an oligarch may appear on the black list, but not because he is an oligarch, but for some actions, ”the official said.
Earlier, Belgian MEP Philippe De Man sent a request to assess the harm from anti-Russian sanctions for EU countries. He asked how the scale of damage incurred as a result of such measures is assessed in Europe.
Western countries introduced economic sanctions against Russia in 2014 due to the annexation of Crimea and the situation in Donbass. In response, Russia announced a food embargo that restricts the import of fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat products into the country.
