The leaders of the G7 countries will also introduce their own sanctions against Russia, Ursula von der Leyen said.

EU Promises

The EU's 18th sanctions package against Russia will be “tough and painful.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said this during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague.

She stressed that Ukraine can count on full support from its partners.

“We can learn a lot from you. But most importantly, we can help you survive and win,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

She also said that there is constant financial support for Ukraine.

“We know that you fight for our values and principles,” said Ursula von der Leyen.

She added that pressure on Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin should not cease, as he should be forced to sit down at the negotiating table.

“We must put pressure on Putin to come to the negotiating table for a fair and sustainable peace. That is why the 18th package of sanctions is really tough and painful. I know that our friends from the G7 will also impose their sanctions.

Let us recall that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has not yet disclosed the contents of the final declaration of the summit in The Hague, but he spoke about “important formulations” regarding Ukraine, its support, including financial support.

It is also known that during the NATO summit in The Hague on June 24, the President of Ukraine declared the powerful potential of our state in the production of modern weapons, in particular, UAVs and missiles. However, almost half of this capacity remains unrealized due to lack of funding.
