In the EU, with the assistance of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, they prepared a collective written response to Russian proposals on security guarantees. Politico reports.

The content of the letter, which was signed by Borrell, refers to the agreement of the European Union, together with NATO, to continue the dialogue with Russia on “security for all of Europe.” The document also noted the commitment of Western states to resolve crisis situations only through diplomacy.

The EU leadership also noted the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) as an important format for discussing European security issues in addition to the Russia-NATO Council.

On January 26, Washington handed over to Russia a written response to the proposals for security guarantees. The message was brought to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs by US Ambassador to the Russian Federation John Sullivan and handed it over to Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.

On February 2, the newspaper El Pais published the content of the responses to the Russian proposals. The text reported that in their response, the United States and NATO offer to restore relations and the work of the embassies closed in 2021, but at the same time threaten to deploy more troops in Eastern Europe in the event of “Moscow's aggression against Kiev.” Later, representatives of the US State Department confirmed the authenticity of the documents.
