The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, called on the countries of the union to dialogue with Russia. He is quoted by TASS.
According to him, if the European Union wants to become a global player, it should maintain ties with Moscow. “Russia remains a neighbor and partner of paramount importance, with whom we must maintain a dialogue, firmly voicing our demands,” Borrell stressed.
He noted that thanks to this, the EU will be able to influence issues related to Syria, Libya, Nagorno-Karabakh, Belarus or Ukraine. The diplomat stressed that this is the purpose of his visit to Moscow.
On January 29, Borrell assessed the EU's relations with Russia as one of the most difficult. However, in some areas they do cooperate and should cooperate even more, he added.
