All 27 member countries of the European Union (EU) have agreed to mutually recognize rapid antigen tests and PCR test results for coronavirus infection. This is stated in a statement made at the end of the online summit, which was held on January 21.
It is noted that this is essential for facilitating cross-border movement, tracing cross-border contacts and treatment.
EU countries have also agreed to share data on coronavirus through a special digital platform, which will include a single list of rapid tests for COVID-19, as well as standards for their use.
The report notes that the decision will help mitigate the consequences of the spread of coronavirus, as well as contribute to the smooth functioning of the EU internal market.
Earlier, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that the possibility that only those vaccinated against coronavirus will be allowed to travel to the EU. He noted that this is a very sensitive topic, since in this case, in many European countries, they may decide that vaccination will actually become mandatory.
