The European Union has proposed personal sanctions against Alina Kabaeva, a former Russian gymnast and Putin's mistress. It is noted that they may appear in the list of the sixth package, which the European Commission plans to present in the near future.

This was reported by the American edition of Bloomberg, citing a document received by the editors and sources familiar with the situation. The list must be agreed upon by the governments of the EU member states and may change before final approval, the publication notes.

Why the EU wants to impose sanctions against Kabaeva

The fact is that Alina Kabaeva is the chairman of the board of directors of the Russian joint-stock company National Media Group (NMG). It is a holding company that owns stakes in almost all major Russian media that distribute propaganda. Therefore, Kabaeva is directly responsible for supporting actions that undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Kabaeva is “closely linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin,” according to a document obtained by Bloomberg. Earlier, the EU had already introduced sanctions restrictions against the head of the Kremlin and his two daughters, whom he spawned with his ex-squad.

The Kremlin has repeatedly denied reports that 69-year-old Putin is in “romantic relationship” with 39-year-old Kabaeva or her children. At the same time, the Russian media, which had previously written about the relationship between the dictator and the gymnast, often suddenly ceased to exist or their funding was canceled.

By the way, Alina Kabaeva was appointed head of the board of directors of the NMG in 2014 took Russian billionaire Yuri Kovalchuk, who is close to Putin. Before that, the killer's mistress had been a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party for almost 7 years. against Alina Kabaeva out of concern that such a move could “escalate tensions with Putin.” At the same time, the journalists referred to anonymous sources among high-ranking officials in the White House.
