Kallas emphasized that circumstances may change.

Prime Minister Estonia< /strong> Kaya Kallas refused to guarantee that her country’s Defense Forces would not be sent to Ukraine. Like, making this decision is not in his competence.

She made this statement during a speech in parliament, reports ERR.

During the government hour, members of the Riigikogu Parliament discussed the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the sending of soldiers from EU countries to the territory of Ukraine. Subsequently, Kallas was asked if Estonia had plans to help Kyiv and send its military.

“To send soldiers anywhere outside of Estonia, you need a mandate from the Riigikogu, so you can decide this issue yourself. Just like we sent soldiers to different missions, this requires a mandate from the Riigikogu. I I can’t decide this myself. This issue will not pass you by,” the Estonian Prime Minister emphasized.

However, conservatives demanded guarantees from Kallas that the Estonian Defense Forces would not interfere in military operations in Ukraine. However, she refused to guarantee this.

“I don't make such promises because circumstances can change. From your interpretation, it seems that interference could be anything. Our military assistance to Ukraine could also be seen by Russia as interference, because we really want “For Ukraine to win, we really want Russia to lose and return to its borders,” stressed Kaya Kallas.

Recall that Lithuania supported sending troops to Ukraine. Lithuanian leader Gitanas Nausėda called on the West to stop “drawing red lines.”
