< p>Estonia has announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine, which will include new missiles.
Estonia will provide new military aid to Ukraine, in which will include launchers and missiles of short-range anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) “Mistral”.
This was reported by the press service of the Estonian Ministry of Defense.
“Ukraine urgently needs air defense to fend off Russia's continued brutal attack, and it is in Estonia's direct security interests to also contribute to this together with its allies. We have structured the assistance package so that Ukraine gets the maximum benefit from it without damage to the combat readiness of the Estonian Defense Forces and resumed the necessary supplies as quickly as possible,” said Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur.
The exact number is not disclosed for security reasons.
What is known about the Mistral MANPADS
Mistral is a modern anti-aircraft missile system from 1987 for destroying helicopters and aircraft. It is available in both a portable version (MANPADS) and for use on launch platforms for vehicles, ships and helicopters.
Mistral has a range of up to 6 km, designed to protect against aircraft and helicopters flying relatively low.
