Estonia may also close its border with Russia

The Estonian government assures that the situation on the Russian-Estonian border is stable for now.

The Estonian government does not yet see serious reasons to completely close the border with Russia, but is ready to take such measures if necessary.

This is reported by Err .

Prime Minister Kaia Kallas said that the appearance of a large number of migrants on the border with the Russian Federation was a targeted hybrid attack by the Kremlin. She emphasized that if the influx of migrants increases, the borders will be closed.

“The situation on the Russian-Estonian border is stable. A week later, police deployed 30 foreigners from the Middle East and Africa at the border who had no reason to enter Estonia. Now we are dealing with a low-intensity migration attack,” Kallas said.

She said that Russia usually does not allow people through its territory who do not have the appropriate documents, but now the situation has changed.

“But such activity by the Russian Federation is not at all surprising – we were preparing for this and assumed that they would use these weapons against us. We are monitoring the situation on the border with increased attention, and we are ready that the number of such people on the border will increase. In connection with this, we already have everything necessary at all border points to close them if necessary,” she concluded.

Let us recall that it was previously reported that Norway, following Finland, may close the only checkpoint on the border with Russia .

In addition, we previously reported that Finland has massed troops to the border with the Russian Federation.
