Estonia explained the purpose of the NATO Bold Panzer exercises held in autumn. This is what Izvestia writes about.

In October, a fresh shift of the NATO contingent, which arrived in Estonia on a rotational basis, conducted exercises in which almost two thousand servicemen participated. Their task was to complete integration and work out interaction with the Estonian troops, said the commander of the NATO combat group in the Baltic Republic, Lieutenant Colonel Simon Worth.

Major of the Estonian Defense Forces Dmitry Kondratenko noted that thanks to the Bold Panzer maneuvers, “the allies got their feet wet in the Estonian swamps.” He explained that during the exercises, NATO soldiers gained practical skills and knowledge on actions in wetlands and forests, turning the features of the landscape in their favor.

On January 29 to February 6, the annual Winter Camp military exercises are held in Estonia, in which NATO troops from France and Great Britain stationed in the country participate. The first stage of the exercises is devoted to live firing, working out the actions of anti-tank calculations, solving engineering problems and patrolling the terrain. Next, the allied troops will have to confront a conditional enemy, in the role of which the Scout Battalion and parts of the kaitseliyt (people’s militia) will act. It is planned to work out offensive and defensive actions.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Dmitry Kozak said that NATO exercises near the country’s borders are unacceptable. Following the meeting of the Normandy format advisers in Paris, Kozak said that “large-scale maneuvers of the armed forces” of those countries that have nothing to do with Ukraine and its security are being conducted near the borders of Russia. “We can’t turn a blind eye to this either,” he concluded.
