The pandemic, national quarantines and the cessation of overseas flights in Israel have triggered a boom in escort agencies. At the beginning of the year, there were about 50 of them, but now – at least 150.
About a third of these private establishments are located in Haifa and its suburbs, the rest are scattered throughout the country.
As a rule, each of the escort agencies employs from 10 to 15 girls, and their services cost about 350 shekels (about 7.8 thousand rubles). The “workers” themselves get only a third of this amount, the rest goes to pimps and brothel keepers.
The police cannot cope with the adult entertainment industry and since the beginning of the year have been able to cover only about two dozen illegal establishments that are located in private houses, apartments and even in warehouses.
According to one of the Israeli law enforcement officers, there are ten new ones for every closed institution. Criminal cases are being opened against the owners of escort agencies, but the number of people wishing to earn money during the pandemic is not decreasing.
Prostitution in Israel is prohibited by law.
