Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened to start a new operation in Syria. This will happen if the Kurdish formations do not leave the north of the republic, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, when the Turkish military destroyed the terrorist corridor, which they “tried to build” along the borders of Turkey, Ankara showed that “the Syrian brothers are not alone.”
He noted that Turkey will not tolerate any steps that will lead to a “new humanitarian catastrophe” in the Syrian province of Idlib.
In October 2019, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the launch of Operation Peace Spring in Syria against the Kurds and the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia) terrorist organization. In early November, Russia and Turkey agreed to suspend it, create a security zone on the Syrian-Turkish border and patrol the region. At the same time, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that he offered the Kurds to fight together with the “Turkish invaders”, but they refused.
