Assistance from NATO and the European Union for Ukraine should have been more decisive, their relations with Kiev can not be called either friendship or solidarity, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. The Turkish leader's speech was broadcast by the NTV channel.

“The West, the EU countries and NATO failed to demonstrate resolve towards Ukraine. They all give her advice. The attitude of the West towards Ukraine cannot be considered either friendship or solidarity,” the president said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that since 2014, Western countries have looked at what is happening in the Donbass through the prism of selfish interests and ignored problems with the rights of citizens in Ukraine.

On February 24, Turkish President Erdogan's party reported that the country's authorities, on the basis of the Montreux Convention, reserve the right to close the Bosphorus for Russia, but they hope that this will not come to that.
