Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered to organize a meeting of the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, “face to face.” The quote is quoted by RIA Novosti.
“We are saddened that an atmosphere of war has formed between Russia and Ukraine. We expect to hold a meeting between Putin and Zelensky,” the politician said.
Perhaps this issue will be discussed during Erdogan’s visit to Ukraine, which will take place in early February. The president himself added that he was waiting for Putin’s visit to Ankara, but did not specify when it would happen.
Earlier, the official representative of the Turkish leader Ibrahim Kalyn also said that the Turkish politician invited Putin and Zelensky to Turkey “to settle differences” between the countries. Advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak considered Erdogan’s proposal thoughtful. However, Russian experts note that there can be no intermediaries between the countries.
