Erdogan invited Putin to agree to a “fair world”: the Kremlin’s reaction

The leaders of Turkey and the Russian Federation discussed the situation in Ukraine.

On Wednesday, July 3, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during meeting in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he again offered his country’s mediation to achieve a “just peace” in the war unleashed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

This was reported in the press service of the Turkish Presidential Administration.

The meeting between Erdogan and Putin took place within the framework of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which includes Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Iran and Pakistan.

The leaders of Turkey and the Russian Federation discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia, as well as the situation in Ukraine, Israel and Syria.

“Turkey will continue its efforts to establish peace in the region and the world. Turkey can lay the groundwork for a consensus to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, first through a ceasefire and then towards peace. A just peace that can satisfy both sides is possible,” the press service of the Turkish president quotes Erdogan’s statement at a meeting with Putin.

Subsequently, Russian President Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said , that the Kremlin does not consider Erdogan a possible mediator in the negotiations on Ukraine.

Recall that earlier Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Russian dictator Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation that Turkey is ready play any role as a mediator to bring Ukraine and Russia back to the negotiating table.
