Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the statements of his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron regarding the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. Writes about it Reuters.
Thus, the Turkish leader hoped that France would soon get rid of the “Macron burden”. “Macron and France are going through a very dangerous period,” the politician said.
In addition, Erdogan noted that France “can transfer Marseille to the Armenians to create a second Armenian state.” He is quoted by the Anadolu agency in its Telegram channel.
Relations between France and Turkey have been tense in recent months. On the one hand, tension arose against the background of the murder of history teacher Samuel Pati in the suburbs of Paris. After Abdulakhan Anzorov, a native of Moscow of Chechen origin, beheaded the teacher, Macron promised to protect the country's secular values from radical Islam. He also pointed out that, in his opinion, Islam as a religion is in crisis all over the world. In response, the Turkish authorities called on Muslims around the world to boycott French goods.
On the other hand, relations between Paris and Ankara are tense because of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. On November 25, the French Senate adopted a resolution calling for the country's government to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh. The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that this document is a manifestation of an “absurd and divorced from the facts” understanding of the situation.
