Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron for speaking out about Islam. TASS reports.

According to the Turkish leader, the French president is showing an inappropriate attitude towards the millions of his country's inhabitants who profess a different religion. “Macron needs treatment for mental disorders,” Erdogan advised.

On October 16, a history teacher was killed in a suburb of Paris. The killer turned out to be 18-year-old Abdulak Anzorov, a native of Russia. The criminal attacked the teacher for showing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad during the lesson on freedom of speech. Then he published a photo of the severed head of the murdered man and turned to the President of France, stating that he “executed the teacher who dared to humiliate the Prophet Muhammad.”

Macron called the crime a terrorist attack. According to the president, the French teacher died for “teaching children freedom of speech, freedom to believe or not to believe.”

Four people were detained in the criminal case of the murder of a history teacher. These are close acquaintances of the terrorist, among them there are also relatives of the young man. It is known that Anzorov had refugee status in France – he had a residence permit issued on March 4, 2020.
