Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Russia, France and the United States of being the main suppliers of weapons to Armenia. He said this on Sunday, October 18, during a conference in the province of Sirnak. The live stream was broadcast on his Twitter account.

“The OSCE Minsk Group, consisting of Russia, the United States and France, provides Armenia with comprehensive support with weapons,” the Turkish President said.

He also noted that the Armenian side has repeatedly violated the truce with Azerbaijan. “What do they say that we support our Azerbaijani brothers?” – Erdogan asked.

On October 9, the speaker of the Turkish parliament, Mustafa Shentop, said that the issue of the possibility of sending Turkish troops to Azerbaijan could be considered, but so far there is no such need. “Over the past few days, the Azerbaijani armed forces have shown the whole world that they are capable of achieving victory on their own,” he said.

On September 27, clashes broke out in Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan stated that Armenian forces fired at its positions and settlements and announced a counteroffensive. Yerevan noted that Baku attacked the unrecognized republic. The Armenian side claims that 4,000 militants are fighting on the side of Azerbaijan, which Turkey has transferred from Syria.

In 1991, Nagorno-Karabakh, the majority of whose population were Armenians, declared independence from Azerbaijan. Baku tried to return the region by force, a war broke out. In 1994, Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, through the mediation of Russia, signed a truce protocol. However, hostilities periodically resume.
