The rector of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius, congratulated everyone who celebrates it on the New Julian calendar on December 25, Merry Christmas.
– Today, some of our brothers and sisters celebrate the bright holiday of the Nativity of Christ. More than two thousand years ago, the miracle of the Incarnation took place, which marked a change in man's relationship with God, a renewal of the connection between the Creator and His creation, Epiphanius said.
He also noted that all Christians honor Christmas – regardless of the calendar tradition and confessional affiliation.
– Therefore, on behalf of the fullness of the local Ukrainian Orthodox Church, I congratulate everyone who celebrates the Nativity of Christ today. May the Lord bless you and your loved ones, and the light of His love illuminates your lives and shows the righteous path to salvation, – wrote the rector of the OCU.
