The rules will apply when entering all EU countries except Cyprus and Ireland.
The rules for entry into the EU will be tightened for Ukrainians, and some parts of the system will start working at the end of 2024.
Euronews Travel writes about this.
The launch of the post-Brexit EU Entry and Exit System (EES) has been pushed back to the end of the year. Once it is operational, everyone wishing to cross the border will undergo border control in accordance with the new rules.
What do you know about the new rules?
This is an entry-exit system with an automated check-in system for travelers from the UK and other (about 60) non-EU countries, including Ukraine.
Consequently, tourists will now have to scan their passports and other travel documents themselves when crossing the EU's external border. This rule will not apply to legal residents or long-stay visa holders.
“The system will register the traveler's name, biometric data, as well as the date and place of entry and exit. Face scanning and fingerprint data will be stored in an electronic database for three years after each trip,” the message says.
You can apply for an ETIAS entry permit before you purchase your ticket or book your accommodation. Passport details must match those on your ETIAS permit
The rules will apply when entering all EU countries except Cyprus and Ireland, as well as four non-EU Schengen countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
Note that the EES is being introduced to strengthen border security and identify travelers exceeding the permitted time of stay in the Schengen area (90 days within 180 days).
We would like to add that the ETIAS entry form must be filled out on the official website ; the ETIAS is valid for three years.
