Emilio Ballack
The son of football legend Michael Ballack has died after a quad bike accident, and his grandmother desperately called the emergency doctor.
On Thursday night, 18-year-old Emilio Ballack died in the quad accident in the Portuguese resort of Troia, south of Lisbon. The family owns a property there.
“The accident happened on the family's property, the quad driver was not on a public road and it was the only vehicle involved,” the police confirm. The fatal crash occurred around 2:10 in the morning.
The fire brigade describes the course of the accident: The quad went astray, fell a meter deep and buried Ballack under itself.
According to the news portal “cmjornal”, Grandma Karin is said to have desperately called the emergency doctor. After unsuccessful attempts at resuscitation, death was determined on site.
The body was brought to Santiago do Cacem for an autopsy, and the police are investigating the accident. The family is now being looked after psychologically.
Emilio was one of three sons that Ballack had with his ex-wife Simone, alongside Louis (19) and Jordi (16). The 18-year-old graduated from a school in Munich just eight weeks ago.
