EM base of Croatia and the Czech Republic not in Scotland

The national soccer teams of Croatia and the Czech Republic will not set up their base camp for the upcoming European Championship in Scotland due to the strict Corona rules. Instead of living in Edinburgh as originally planned, the Czechs will be stationed in Prague instead. The Croatians have canceled St. Andrews and stay in their home town of Rovinj.

Corona protective measures in Scotland were given as the reason for the change. If a player or companion tests positive there, the whole team has to go into quarantine – even if everyone else tests negative. This contradicts the UEFA protocol for the resumption of play, criticized the Czech association. Vice world champions Croatia followed a recommendation by UEFA. “Under the current circumstances, it's the best for the team,” said team boss Zlatko Dalic.

The Czech Republic and Croatia will meet on June 18th in Glasgow's Hampden Park. Both teams will play against Scotland in Glasgow, the games against England will take place at London's Wembley Stadium.

The two-week preparation phase for the Czech team began on Monday in South Tyrol. A friendly against Italy is scheduled for June 4th in Bologna. The dress rehearsal against Albania will take place in Prague on June 8th.
