Russia’s EM organizer Alexej Sorokin can very well imagine an application from the huge empire for the European Championships in 2028 or 2032. “I find it difficult to speak for my colleagues at the Russian Football Association. But I think that would be very logical. A separate application would be appropriate given our infrastructure and our experience,” the 49-year-old told the daily newspaper “Sport Express”.
The current EM 2021 will take place in eleven countries, including Russia with St. Petersburg. The 2018 World Cup host also played three games from Dublin and is now the host of six group games and one quarter-finals.
“I think in the course of the preparations for this tournament we have shown UEFA that we are a reliable partner, ready for any turnaround and ready to help. If a decision is made by UEFA, we will show again in full glory, “said Sorokin. The 2024 European Championship finals have been awarded to Germany.
