Elizabeth II wants Prince Charles’s wife Camilla to be given the title of Queen

According to Elizabeth II, the Duchess of Cornwall should receive the title of queen when Prince Charles ascends the throne.

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain calls for the Duchess to be granted to the wife of the heir to the throne, Prince Charles of Wales Cornish Camilla the title of Queen Consort.

The corresponding statement was made by the monarch on Saturday, February 5, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of her reign.

“When my son Charles becomes king later, I know that you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support as me—” she stressed. —I sincerely wish that when that time comes, Camilla will be known as the Queen Consort as she continues her faithful service.”

As the BBC writes with reference to the representative of the residence Clarence House, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were “touched and flattered” by the statement.

The support of the British queen means that any obstacle to Camilla becoming queen is unlikely, so after the transition of power, the Duchess of Cornwall will receive the title of queen and will be able to perform a full royal role next to Charles.

Charles and Camilla got married in 2005. The Prince of Wales was previously married to Princess Diana, but the couple divorced in 1996, a year before she died in a car accident in Paris.
