Elizabeth II has officially announced the name of the next queen. This is stated in the message of Buckingham Palace, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the monarch on the British throne.
She said that after her son Prince Charles ascends the throne, his wife Camilla will become Queen Consort. She also expressed the hope that the citizens of the kingdom will provide the future queen with the same support that they currently provide to Elizabeth herself.
Prince Charles is the eldest son of Elizabeth II, who will inherit the British throne after her death. Besides him, the Queen has three other children: Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew. Second in line to the British throne is Charles’ son Prince William. His younger brother Prince Harry gave up his duties as a senior member of the royal family in 2020 and moved to the United States.
Earlier it was reported that experts questioned the chances of Prince Charles becoming king. Historian Martin Wiener did not rule out that his coronation could lead to the collapse of the Commonwealth of Nations.
