Presidential election campaign starts in Turkmenistan on February 14

In Turkmenistan, on Monday, February 14, the presidential election campaign began, its first stage will be the nomination of candidates. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
By law, political parties or groups of citizens can nominate a candidate. In the latter case, it is necessary to collect at least ten thousand signatures of voters. There are three parties in the country: the Democratic Party, the Agrarian Party and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
A citizen of Turkmenistan who is at least forty years old, who was born in the country and has been permanently residing and working in it for the past 15 years, can be elected head of state. He is elected for seven years.
Earlier, the incumbent President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that he wants to give way to public administration for young leaders. The Central Election Commission has scheduled early elections on March 12.
