Ecumenical Patriarch discharged from hospital after testing positive for Covid

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was discharged from an American hospital in Istanbul after he tested positive for Covid on 24 December.

According to the press service of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, in the past six days the patriarch was under medical supervision.

It turned out that he was infected with the Omicron coronavirus strain.

– He will remain in self-isolation for a few more days before leading the celebrations of the Baptism of the Lord, the message says.

Recall, earlier it was reported that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew passed the test on December 24 as part of regular diagnostics, and it turned out to be positive.

At the same time, Bartholomew was fully vaccinated against coronavirus infection.
