The head of the Odessa regional military administration Oleg Kiper commented on the consequences of the earthquake.
An earthquake occurred in Romania, which was felt in the Odessa region and Nikolaev.
This was reported by The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), and also stated the head of the Odessa regional military administration Oleg Kiper.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in Romania. There they felt tremors of 5.5 points.
An earthquake was also reported in Moldova and Ukraine, in particular, in Odessa areas.
According to Oleg Kiper, in the south of Odessa region the earthquake, preliminary, reached 2-4 points. Tremors were also felt in other areas of the region.
“According to operational information from emergency services and reports from duty officers, all critical infrastructure facilities are operating normally without damage. There were no reports of damage in the region or the need for assistance,” Kiper noted.
According to the Romanian Institute of Earth Physics, the earthquake was the “strongest” since the beginning of 2024, and the depth of its tremors was 140 km.
Romanian rescuers urged people to remain calm, given possible aftershocks.
Recall that a powerful earthquake occurred near Crimea earlier. According to the center, the magnitude of the tremor was 3.5 on the Richter scale. The tremors were recorded at 5:50.
