The Moscow Drama Theater under the direction of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, also known as the “Progress Stage of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan”, was merged with the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire. This was reported on the official website of the government of the capital.
Cultural institutions were united on Tuesday, December 28, by order of the Moscow Department of Culture. It is noted that Sergei Gazarov will become the artistic director of the united theater.
“A strong creative institution appears on the theatrical map of Moscow, uniting four scenes. At the same time, of course, the name of Armen Borisovich will not only be preserved, it will join the ranks of his great friends and colleagues, for whom the Satire Theater was famous,” Gazarov said.
In October 2021, Sergei Gazarov became the head of the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire. He also continued to work at the Moscow Drama Theater under the direction of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, where he was appointed artistic director in December 2020.
