After numerous hits on Russian oil refineries, the aggressor country began installing anti-drone nets around the enterprises.
Russian oil producing company ” Bashneft has installed anti-drone nets to protect key facilities at its refineries from possible attack from Ukraine.
This was stated by the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan (RF), writes Reuters.
Russian companies selling such protection display on their websites giant metal mesh that almost completely covers oil refinery buildings on all sides. They are held in place by mooring lines attached to metal posts driven into the ground.
Radiy Khabirov, the head of the republic of Bashkortostan in the Urals, where Bashneft is based, said that negotiations are underway with the Russian Ministry of Defense about strengthening the security of oil refineries.
“We have equipped the main columns (refineries) with mechanical protective nets, and, accordingly, the surveillance system is working,” the local state news agency Bashinform quotes Khabirov.
“We are not resting on our laurels. There are a number of decisions that I will not talk about yet. They are classified. But, believe me, we are very concerned about this,” he said.
Note that Bashneft is controlled by Russia's largest oil producer Rosneft and has several oil refineries in the region that are important for the country's energy sector.
Recall that Newsweek previously wrote that Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil facilities continue to damage the production of its largest export. These attacks could lead to the loss of 10% of oil refining capacity in the second quarter of this year.
