The spot price of gas in Europe has risen again. It exceeded $ 1,350 per thousand cubic meters.
This is the highest figure since the beginning of October this year. So, on the morning of December 13, the price of the next January futures on TTF on the ICE Futures exchange increased by 7.5% from the figure that was on December 10.
It reached € 116.395 per MWh or $ 1,358 per thousand cubic meters .
The growth of gas prices in Europe could have been influenced by the statement of Annalena Berbock, German Foreign Minister. According to her, the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 cannot yet be approved and launched.
This is because it does not comply with the requirements of European energy legislation.
November 16 German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has suspended the certification procedure for Nord Stream 2 AG, which is the operator of the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2.
The Nord Stream 2 AG operator does not yet have the organizational structure that would comply with the laws of Germany. Nord Stream 2 AG is Swiss registered. And the regulator insists that a German legal entity should be the operator of the gas pipeline.
Therefore, the certification procedure has been suspended until the completion of the creation of a subsidiary company Nord Stream 2 AG in Germany to operate the German section of the gas pipeline.
