The Polish leader in Davos called for modern tanks and missiles to be provided to the Ukrainian army.
Polish President Andrzej Duda called on Ukraine's allies to strengthen military assistance for it and noted that a decisive moment in the war will come within a few months or weeks.
Duda made his statement at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 18, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“I I'm afraid that now, maybe within a few months, maybe weeks, there will be a decisive moment in this war, and this moment will give an answer to the question: will Ukraine survive or not“, – said the President of Poland.
He stressed that Ukraine still lacks the weapons received from the allies. Indeed, at the same time, the Russian army is building up strength and, probably, is preparing for a new offensive. Duda stressed that the Ukrainian army needs to be provided with modern tanks and missiles.
“Therefore, it is critically important now to send additional military support“, the Polish leader said.
The politician added that Ukrainians “want to be members of the EU, members of NATO, but, above all, they want to survive,” so “we need to help them.” counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the entire front. At the same time, intelligence data indicate that Russia is preparing a new offensive against Ukraine in winter and spring. So, both for defense and for counteroffensive, the Ukrainian Defense Forces need more weapons and equipment, including modern Western tanks.
To date, Poland and Great Britain have announced the decision to transfer modern tanks to Ukraine – about 14 cars each. However, Ukraine needs a tank brigade of such equipment, according to Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba. That is, we can talk about the need for 93 tanks.
