Dry cargo ship from Russia sank in the Black Sea

A cargo ship flying the Russian flag sank in the Black Sea. The incident took place 70 nautical miles (about 130 kilometers) from the Romanian port of Constanta, Agerpres reported.

According to him, the dry cargo ship was called Volgo-Balt 179. There were 13 crew members on board, including one woman, all of them Ukrainian. It is noted that 10 people were saved, two were killed, and one is considered missing.

The ship reportedly sent a distress call at 4:40 am local time. After that, the ship GSP Falcon moved to the rescue. It is indicated that in the area of the emergency site there were extremely difficult weather conditions – strong wind and waves up to four meters high.

At the same time, Rosmorrechflot told RBC that the ship was not Russian, it was sailing under the flag of the Comoros. The agency is also still checking the data on the nationality of the crew and finding out who the ship owner was.

RBC in its Telegram channel also reports that Volgo-Balt 179 followed to Constanta from Rostov-on-Don. He left the Russian port on March 6.

In January, a dry cargo ship with Russians on board sank off the coast of Turkey. He was flying from Georgia to Bulgaria. The shipowner of the ship was the Ukrainian company Arvin Shipping LTD.
