Explosions heard near Engels / Photo from Russian media On the night of July 5, there was a loud noise in several Russian regions at once: Leningrad, Voronezh and Chuvashia. The most interesting were the strikes on Saratov Region, because the Engels strategic aviation airfield is located there. Russian Telegram channels reported about explosions in the Saratov region at around 4 a.m. on July 5, Channel 24 reports. The loudest noise was in the city of Engels itself. Here, locals say, a siren was turned on at night. Soon after, explosions were heard – all near the military airfield from which Russian planes take off to attack Ukraine. The “Carpet” plan was announced at Pulkovo Airport
Drones were also shot down over the Leningrad Region. Because of the threats at Pulkovo Airport, the “Carpet” plan was announced several times during the night. About 50 flights were delayed. Drones reached Chuvashia. However, it was not limited to explosions. Local residents filmed a powerful fire that broke out immediately after the attack in Cheboksary.
